Bruce E. Bennett, Ph.D., the Chief Executive Officer of the APA Insurance Trust, has served on the APA Council of Representatives and is a former member of the APA Board of Directors. He was instrumental in the drafting and passage of the 1992 APA Ethics Code and served on the APA Committee to revise the Ethics Code in 2002. Dr. Bennett, a past president and Executive Director of the Illinois Psychological Association, maintained an active private practice in Illinois in addition to teaching courses on professional issues. Dr. Bennett's areas of expertise include professional liability and risk management, marketing and promotion of psychological services, and ethics. Dr. Bennett co-authored the publication Assessing and Managing Risk in Psychological Practice: An Individualized Approach, as well as the APA monographs Professional Liability and Risk Management and Ethics of Psychologists: A Commentary on the APA Ethics Code. He has served on committees of the APA, the American Bar Association, and the Illinois State Bar Association.

The APA Insurance Trust ("the Trust") was formed in 1962 by the American Psychological Association ("APA") as a separate and distinct legal entity from the APA. The Trust is legally recognized as a business trust that provides financial security programs for the members of the APA and other affiliated individuals as well as risk management and other consultative services related to the Trust Insurance Programs.
