Bruce E. Bennett, Ph.D. is the Chief Executive Officer
of the American Psychological Association Insurance
Trust and a former member of the APA Board of Directors. He
was instrumental in the drafting and passage of the 1992
"Ethical
Principles for Psychologists and Code of Conduct." Dr. Bennett is a past president
of the Illinois Psychological Association and served for many
years as its Executive Director and Health Service
Consultant. Prior to his relocation to the Washington, DC
area, Dr. Bennett maintained an active private practice in
Illinois in addition to teaching courses on professional
issues.
Dr. Bennett's areas of expertise are in professional
liability and risk management, marketing and promotion of
psychological services, ethics, and malpractice insurance
issues. He has presented on these topics at numerous APA
conventions, State Psychological Association meetings, and at
APA Division meetings.
Dr. Bennett is
the author of numerous articles on professional issues and
co-author of the APA monographs "Professional
Liability and Risk Management" and "Ethics of Psychologists: A
Commentary on the APA Ethics Code". Dr. Bennett has
served on numerous committees of the APA and Committees of
the American Bar Association and the Illinois State Bar
Association.
